We are in search of a passionate and knowledgeable Teacher of Social Studies to become a part of our academic team. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching secondary school students (Grades 7-10) with a focus on US History and the opportunity to teach Advanced Placement (AP) courses. This role aims to encourage students to think critically about history and social sciences, helping them comprehend the historical context of current issues in the US and worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons on social studies topics following the US curriculum.
- Foster students’ grasp of historical events, societal structures, and their relevance to contemporary issues.
- Cover various social studies subjects such as civics, economics, geography, and world history to enhance students’ comprehension of global and national matters.
- Teach Advanced Placement (AP) courses like AP Psychology and AP Macroeconomics, while readying students for college-level academic demands.
- Promote critical thinking, analytical skills, and discussion abilities through inquiry-based learning and collaborative activities.
- Regularly evaluate student progress, offer constructive feedback, and provide tailored support to address individual learning needs.
- Establish a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement, participation, and academic excellence.
- Collaborate with colleagues to harmonize teaching practices, exchange best practices, and create resources that improve student learning.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, History, Political Science, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent).
- At least one year of full-time teaching experience.
- Native English proficiency.
- Desireable: Experience in teaching Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
- Solid understanding of the US curriculum and social studies best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
