Job Description:
My name is Jill Duoto and I am the Director of High Bluff Academy in San Diego, CA. For the past 10 years we have had a small program in Jinhua, Zhejiang, China. The program is run by a public high school called AiQing. Jinhua is a great place to live and is only 2 hours by express train from Shanghai and Hangzhou. It is a beautiful city surrounded by green mountains and intersected by a river. Everyone at the school is very friendly and supportive. We are looking for a teacher who can teach 10th and 11th grade ESL. The classes are usually 10 students or less. The successful candidate will be teaching 4 classes per day of 40 minutes each. So as you can see, it is not like most jobs in China.
The pay is $3,500 net per month (tied to U.S. dollar exchange rate). The school will take care of Chinese taxes. On-campus apartment and utilities are provided as well as local health insurance. All travel and quarantine expenses will be paid by the school.
This job is only available to U.S. or Canadian citizens who are NATIVE English speakers and under 60 years old. The Chinese government will NOT issue visas to anyone who will be 60 years old during the contracted year. A high school teaching credential is preferred. Candidates must be willing to start on August 18, 2022 and undergo a 10 day quarantine. Classes begin on September 1st.
We are looking for friendly, adaptable and self-directed teachers who enjoy working with teens. Experience living and working in China is preferred but not required.
