Designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders for the unique challenges of the 21st century, Schwarzman Scholars gives the world’s best and brightest students the opportunity to pursue a one-year Master’s Degree in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University, China’s most prestigious institution. We believe that to respond to future challenges, leaders must understand China and its role in the world. To this end, our program, taught in English, promotes engagement and cultural exchange by integrating academic coursework, language learning, guest lectures, mobile-learning Deep Dives, mentorships and internships. Over the course of the year, students will be immersed in an international community of thinkers, innovators, and leaders in business, politics, and society. They will develop their leadership skills and expand their professional networks while engaging in academic discussions, exploring career opportunities, and experiencing China. We will be welcoming our eighth cohort of Scholars in Fall 2023. Learn more at www.schwarzmanscholars.org.

Description of the Position

Language is at the heart of communication, and communication is at the heart of exchange, collaboration, and leadership. The English Instructor will work to transform how students “talk and write” in English to how students “communicate” in English by building curriculum and programming that develops students writing and speaking skills. You will help them tell their stories and present them to a crowd of two or to a crowd of 200. You will coach them through their writing – be it professional or academic –to help them understand their experiences, their ideas, their work, and the world around them.

The English Instructor will work closely with native speakers and ESL learners from around the world throughout the course of the year. You will be a teacher, a coach, a curriculum developer, and a collaborator as part of the Language team and the Student Life team.

The position offers a work visa, competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, paid summer/winter vacations, and an option to apply to live in the College.
