Position available: ESL teacher to young learners
School type: Training Center
Location: Shenyang, Liaoning, China
Salary: 19-22,000CNY depending on qualifications
Housing: Free individual apartment or RMB 2,000 per month
Bonus: RMB 16,000 per year based on attendance and observation (paid quarterly, RMB 3,000 per quarter and RMB 4,000 at the end of contract.)
Holidays: approximately 30 days paid holiday per year as well as unpaid days during the year.
Student ages: 4-14
Class size: 15 for ages 4-6, 15-20 for ages 6-11 and 20+ for ages 11-14.
Class period: 45 min-1 hour
Office hours: 4 hours a week
Work schedule: workday evenings and weekends
Teaching hours per week: 20 hours
Days off: 2 days during the weekdays
Requirements: Bachelors’ Degree or over (Certified by the Chinese Embassy/Consulate), TEFL/TESOL certificate, clean criminal record check, 2 years teaching experience, be from a Native speaking country, such as, Canada, the US, Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand. Under the age of 55.

At Joy, our motto is “Learning is Fun!” Using stories and dialogues which are based on Western fairy tales, the teachers and students embark on a life changing journey which takes place in an easily followed format which allows the classroom to be not only a place to learn English, but also a look at culture, values and personal growth. Paid training is provided for all new teachers who come to Joy School. Join a team of 8 other foreigners from all over the world, thus making Joy not only a school but also a community in which you can immerse yourself in teaching and exploring China. With Joy School Shenyang, the teachers are managed, trained and observed by a foreign leader. At Joy School Shenyang, there is a Chinese teacher in the classroom with you at all times to help assist. The local Chinese teachers are friendly and communicative and generally want to help with the students’ education and are willing to assist outside of school.
Shenyang is the capital of Liaoning Province located in the north-east of China. With four seasons, it is a welcoming city with many expats and a lot to offer in the way of entertainment, dining, parks and recreation activities. With the vacation time provided by Joy School, and easy access to fast trains and an international airport, it is easy to explore China and the Northeast. Some examples are 2.5 hours by train to Dalian a, costal city in Liaoning province, 3.5 hours by train to Beijing, 2.5 hours by train to Harbin the ice and snow capital of China. It is also easy to get to Shanghai by plane, or even Hainan, China’s Hawaii.
