About Q1 Academy
Q1 Academy is an online English academy dedicated to providing high-level instruction to international school students. Our curriculum goes beyond conversational English, focusing on academic writing, critical reading, and vocabulary mastery. We cater to students who seek rigorous and structured learning, helping them refine their analytical and writing skills.
About Our Students
Our students are 4th to 9th graders, primarily from international schools, all native English speakers. They are familiar with academic writing structures and are expected to engage in deep literary analysis, structured essay writing, and advanced vocabulary development.
Position Overview
We are looking for a part-time Grader, Tutor, and Content Creator who excels in academic writing instruction, has strong editing skills, and is comfortable working in an online setting. Work is 100% online.
This role is divided into three primary areas: Grading, Tutoring, and Content Creation.
Tasks & Responsibilities
1. Grading
Writing Classes
Grade academic paragraphs and essays (4th to 9th grade).
Provide detailed feedback using a structured rubric.
Edit for grammar, clarity, coherence, and structure (including misplaced commas, run-ons, subject-verb agreement, parallel structure, and transitions).
Reading Classes
Grade reading comprehension assignments (concept questions and textbook homework via Google Forms).
Evaluate vocabulary sentences for correct usage and effectiveness.
Ensure grading is consistent and aligns with academy standards.
2. Tutoring (Live Classes)
Vocabulary Classes (Discussion-based)
Engage students in vocabulary discussions, focusing on word usage, tone, and sentence structure.
Identify and correct awkward phrasing and misused words.
Test students on vocabulary knowledge through discussion.
Track word discussions and student progress with students.
3. Content Creation
Track and update students' vocabulary lists.
Maintain and revise answer keys for reading classes.
Contribute to curriculum development and learning materials as needed.
Job Conditions
Tutoring & Content Creation Hours: 8:00 PM – 10:30 PM KST (Korea Standard Time) (Must be online during these hours).
Grading: 1-3 hours, 4 times a week (One grading session must be on Sunday; the other three can be set by you but must remain consistent).
Pay: 1.5 million KRW per month (Fixed).
About the Candidate
Required Qualifications:
Native English speaker.
Bachelor’s degree (4-year university required).
Experience grading academic essays (structured five-paragraph essays with thesis statements, topic sentences, and supporting evidence).
Teaching experience in writing or English language instruction.
Strong editing skills (must be able to spot and correct: misplaced commas, run-on sentences, dangling modifiers, awkward phrasing, subject-verb agreement issues, parallel structure errors, and weak transitions).
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points):
Experience teaching international school students.
Familiarity with online grading systems (Google Forms, Google Classroom, or similar platforms).
Experience with content creation for educational materials.
