Lamai International School, located in Koh Samui, Thailand, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our team. As a nurturing and child-centered international community, we deliver the National Curriculum of England with a focus on holistic development, mindfulness, and education for sustainable development. Our priority is fostering strong relationships, student well-being, and a culture of kindness.
The SENCO will play a crucial role in supporting students with additional learning needs by providing individualized instruction, developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and maintaining communication with staff and families to support students' academic and emotional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small group support for students with diverse learning needs
- Develop and maintain IEPs tailored to each student's strengths and challenges
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers for differentiated instruction and accommodations
- Communicate with parents, the Head of School, and other stakeholders
- Participate in student support meetings and contribute to an inclusive culture
- Stay informed on current SEN best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
- SEN specialization or certification
- At least 2 years of experience with students with additional needs
- Strong understanding of IEP development
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being
