Global Prodigy Academy, founded in 2006. GPA is an international school accredited by WASC and located in Jeonju, South Korea, and affiliates with Jeonju University. GPA is seeking an outstanding University Guidance Counsellor who will be able to support our students as they begin to make decisions about higher education pathways and future careers.
[RESPONSIBILITIES]
- Responsibilities for AP and SAT coordinator and supervisor roles
- Organize and coordinate student and teacher class schedules
- Review students
- It regularly provides students and their parents with education on college admissions information and preparation.
- Educate students on appropriate interviewing techniques, self-assessment tools, and application essay writing techniques.
- Oversee student university applications.
- Monitor individual student progress throughout the university application process
- Provide options guidance throughout school, including university/course selection.
- Educate families about college admissions and financial aid or scholarship possibilities.
- Guide students and others in understanding and utilizing Common App, the college admission data management system. Provide guidance and resources and teach tools to navigate the college search and application process.
- Work with all students in the Secondary Section as necessary and guide their thinking with respect to careers and subject choices.
- Arrange college visits and trips to local college fairs.
- Build and maintain relationships with admission professionals.
- Handle incoming inquiries and requests and prepare written responses to routine inquiries.
- Invite college admissions officers to visit the school and meet with students.
- Keep office area neat, tidy, and professional at all times.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of colleges and universities, which includes making regular visits to colleges. Stay current on high education changes.
- Meet individually with student(s) and parents/to explore and identify appropriate college options. Communicate regularly with counselees.
- Pursue appropriate professional development, including attendance at the annual conference(s) in the counseling and admission professional organizations.
- Manage students’ transcripts and graduation credits.
- Prepare and edit documents; check and enter data; prepare and send mailings and packages.
[WORKING CONDITION]
1. The Secondary University Counsellor(Guidance Counselor) position is available for 2025-2026 school year. The fall semester starts in the middle of August and there is a ‘Teacher in-Service’ week beforehand.
2. Teaching Hours
-Full-time job (Monday through Friday)
3. Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Guidance & Counseling with School Counseling
- 2+ years of background in admissions or college counseling experience are preferred at international schools.
- Christian is preferred
4. SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS must submit
- Diploma with Apostille
- FBI criminal background check with Apostille (Within 6 months) in U.S. or issued by RCMP in Canada and it should be notarized by the Canadian Embassy/Consulate.
