About the Role:
Grand International School is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Science Teacher to join our team. You’ll teach a range of science subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, and General Science to students in grades 7 to 12. Beyond the classroom, you'll help maintain and run our science labs, ensuring students experience hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
Excitingly, you’ll also take a key role in launching our brand-new Grade 7 Project-Based Learning (PBL) Department, opening in September 2025, helping to design and lead engaging, real-world science projects that inspire curiosity and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver science lessons across different subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, and General Science for students in grades 7-12, in alignment with the school’s curriculum standards.
Develop and implement instructional strategies that promote active learning, critical thinking, and hands-on experimentation.
Ensure thorough preparation of classes, including setting up experiments and demonstrations in the science lab.
Teach engaging, well-organized science lessons to grades 7–12, covering Biology, Chemistry, and General Science.
Develop real-world projects and interdisciplinary units as part of the new Grade 7 PBL program.
Set up and run experiments and demonstrations in a safe, well-maintained lab environment.
Promote and enforce safety standards during all lab activities.
Assess student progress regularly and provide clear, constructive feedback.
Support a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Participate in school activities, meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect, curiosity, and scientific exploration.
Participate in school-wide activities, extracurricular events, and professional development sessions.
Collaborate with colleagues, staff, and administration to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians about student progress and any concerns.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.).
Experience teaching science (Biology, Chemistry, General Science) to grades 7-12, with a strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and academic levels.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain a safe, well-organized laboratory environment.
Experience working in a school setting.
Familiarity with inquiry-based learning and integrating technology into science instruction.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Salary range: ¥22,000 – ¥27,000 per month (dependent on qualifications and experience).
• Housing allowance: ¥3,000 per month.
• An additional end-of-contract bonus of ¥9,000.
