PBISS International School, located in Koh Samui, Surat Thani, is seeking a Deputy Head of Secondary. This full-time position offers a competitive salary starting from ฿80,000 per month.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Management:
- Shape the strategic direction of the secondary school, ensuring high standards in behavior, pastoral care, and student welfare.
- Develop and implement policies for pastoral care, behavior management, attendance, safeguarding, and student well-being.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to support the school’s improvement plan and key priorities.
- Manage the pastoral team, including Heads of Year, form tutors, and student support staff.
Pastoral Care & Student Welfare:
- Lead initiatives for student well-being, including mental health support and behavior for learning.
- Foster a proactive safeguarding culture, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and external agencies.
- Develop strategies for students needing additional pastoral support.
- Oversee attendance and punctuality, implementing strategies to minimize persistent absences.
- Promote an inclusive environment that caters to all students, including EAL and SEND learners.
Teaching, Learning & Data Analysis:
- Analyze teaching and learning data to identify trends in student progress, behavior, and attendance.
- Collaborate with Heads of Year and subject leaders to monitor student achievement and pastoral concerns.
- Use data to inform pastoral interventions, ensuring students receive targeted support.
- Monitor and adjust pastoral initiatives to enhance student outcomes.
- Assist teachers in utilizing student performance data to drive improvements in behavior and academic achievement.
- Utilize digital learning platforms like Google Classroom to enhance student engagement and communication.
Behavior & Conduct:
- Promote a positive school ethos through high expectations for student behavior and discipline.
- Implement effective strategies to manage and reduce behavioral incidents and exclusions.
- Support staff in managing student behavior, providing necessary training and guidance.
- Encourage a restorative approach to conflict resolution and student relationships.
Safeguarding & Child Protection:
- Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), ensuring consistent adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Address safeguarding concerns, liaising with authorities and maintaining accurate records.
- Lead staff training on safeguarding, child protection, and pastoral care.
Parental & Community Engagement:
- Facilitate meetings with parents, ensuring effective communication regarding student well-being, behavior, and progress.
- Build strong relationships with parents and act as a primary contact for pastoral concerns.
- Collaborate with external agencies, including social services, healthcare providers, and educational psychologists.
- Organize workshops and sessions for parents on mental health, online safety, and behavior support.
Organizing School Trips & Educational Visits:
- Oversee school trip planning and organization, ensuring they align with the curriculum and provide enriching student experiences.
- Ensure all trips comply with health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures.
- Coordinate with trip leaders, staff, parents, and providers for smooth educational visits.
- Monitor the impact of trips on student engagement and learning.
Cover & Staff Deployment:
- Manage daily cover arrangements to minimize learning disruption.
- Oversee the allocation of cover supervisors and supply teachers to ensure high teaching and learning standards.
- Develop efficient systems for staff absence reporting and cover scheduling.
- Provide guidance and training to cover staff to maintain consistency in behavior management and student engagement.
Staff Leadership & Development:
- Line manage and support Heads of Year and pastoral staff, ensuring appropriate training and development.
- Lead professional development initiatives focused on pastoral care, safeguarding, and behavior management.
- Support staff well-being and workload management under pastoral leadership.
General Responsibilities:
- Uphold and promote the school’s values, vision, and policies.
- Be a visible and approachable leader, fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Assume additional leadership responsibilities as required by the Head of Secondary.
