Job Description:

Trainee Native English Instructor - Hiroshima, Japan
Hiroshima
Posted by: Ark Foreign Language Academy
Contact: job@arkgaigo.com
Our schools in Onomichi, Hiroshima, are currently recruiting an entry level English instructor. This position suits a young, native speaker of English seeking a short term experience to build their teaching confidence.
Trainees are responsible for assisting regular teachers 4 days a week, typically giving conversation or reading practice to very small groups of Japanese students for 3 or 4 hours per day during our school open hours (Monday to Friday, 2pm-10pm).
A private apartment with internet is provided close to the main school. MacDonalds, a 24-hour shopping mall and numerous convenience stores are a short walk from the apartments. A direct bus to Hiroshima city stops outside the apartments. Very close nearby is Japan's best cycling route, going island to island between Honshu and Shikoku islands.
For those coming with a Working Holiday visa, a wage to cover living expenses is provided. For those seeking a purely volunteer experience, living expenses are reimbursed. Any travel expenses between schools are also reimbursed. However, applicants are responsible for their own airfares to and from our schools in Japan.
Please note that this position is ONLY open to native English speakers that used English both at home and at school growing up. It isn't suitable for experienced teachers seeking Working visa sponsorship.
Only applicants completing the online application form below will be considered:

This is a serious trainee position at a well established school. We provide a lot of support and training. It isn't suitable for applicants wanting to stay less than 2 months. Applicants are expected to dress and act professionally. Applicants that do not have a genuine interest in improving their skills will be asked to leave. This position is NOT suitable for applicants purely seeking a cheap stay in Japan. Japan is not an expensive country to live in. If you are purely seeking a holiday and don't have interest in improving your language and cultural understanding by making a contribution to the local community, please do not apply.

📌 Please review the requirements to teach English in Japan before you start applying for teaching positions. If the job post specifies "NES" or "Native English Speaker", it typically means applicants are required to be from one of the following countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa. However, in some cases, this may indicate a preference rather than a strict requirement.

⏳ Due to the high number of applications the schools receive they may not be able to respond to every application. If you don't hear back from them within a week or so, it's best to move on to the next job.

⚠️ When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy anything which they then pay you back for later. NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. Scams in TEFL are rampant, be careful!
