Job Description:

The Chinese Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging Chinese language lessons that support students’ language development, cultural awareness, and overall academic growth in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

* Plan and deliver engaging Chinese language lessons in line with the school’s curriculum and learning objectives.
* Develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills appropriate to their age and ability.
* Use a variety of teaching strategies, activities, and resources to support different learning needs.
* Integrate Chinese culture and real-life contexts into lessons where appropriate.
* Monitor and assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback.
* Maintain accurate records of student achievement and development.

Classroom Management & Student Support

* Establish a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
* Manage student behaviour effectively and consistently in accordance with school policies.
* Support students’ academic, social, and personal development.
* Identify students who may require additional support and work with relevant staff to address their needs.

Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

* Work collaboratively with teachers and other members of the academic team.
* Participate in departmental meetings, school events, parent meetings, and other school activities as required.
* Communicate professionally with parents and colleagues regarding students’ learning and progress.
* Contribute to curriculum development and the improvement of Chinese language programmes.
* Participate in professional development activities to continuously improve teaching practice.
* Follow all school policies, procedures, safeguarding requirements, and professional standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree in Chinese, Education, Teaching, or a related field.
* Previous experience teaching Chinese, preferably in an international or bilingual school.
* Good command of spoken and written Chinese and English.
* Strong classroom management and communication skills.
* Ability to create engaging, student-centred learning experiences.
* Adaptable, collaborative, and committed to continuous professional development.
* Experience with the Cambridge Curriculum or international education is an advantage.

The role requires participation in teaching, meetings, school activities, professional development, and other duties reasonably assigned by the school in accordance with the employee’s position.
