British Council Taiwan is looking for committed teachers in Taiwan to deliver engaging English language lessons to learners. As a key role in promoting quality teaching and effective learning, you will tailor lessons to meet diverse learner needs while maintaining British Council standards. Your responsibilities will include monitoring progress, providing feedback, and supporting learner autonomy, as well as participating in professional development activities. Additionally, you will contribute to course enhancements, attend meetings, and assist with marketing efforts. Building strong relationships with customers and colleagues to promote UK cultural relations is also essential.
Key qualifications and work experience required for this role include holding a Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL, a university degree in any discipline, and a high level of English proficiency equivalent to CEFR C2. You should have at least 2 years of post-certificate teaching experience with relevant age groups, such as young learners and adults. Desirable qualifications include a Cambridge DELTA or Trinity Diploma, a PGCE/B.Ed., or certifications in teaching English to young learners.
The hourly rate for this position is NT$950, with an indefinite contract length. Teachers are primarily needed on weekends for morning and evening classes at locations in Taipei and Linkou. Professional development opportunities are provided through the British Council's Continuing Professional Development frameworks, focusing on enhancing the skills and knowledge of English language professionals. As part of the teaching staff, you will engage in regular meetings with your line manager, attend training sessions, receive feedback from teacher trainers, and have access to a library of ESL materials.
Applicants must be passport holders from countries where English is the official language specified in their passport to be eligible for an ARC. Hourly-paid positions at the British Council Taiwan serve as secondary employment while a primary employer sponsors the ARC.
