General Description

NIVA American International School seeks an exceptional Kindergarten Teacher to lead students through their final foundational year. At NIVA, Kindergarten is a critical bridge to Elementary education, where we transition students from play-based discovery to academic readiness. The successful candidate will be an expert in early childhood pedagogy, capable of delivering the U.S. Common Core with a focus on phonics mastery and cognitive development. We require an educator who combines a nurturing classroom presence with the structured, data-informed instruction necessary to meet rigorous Grade 1 entry standards.

Core Instructional Areas

The Kindergarten Teacher delivers a comprehensive, integrated curriculum focused on the following California-aligned strands:

Foundational Literacy: Intensive focus on phonics, phonemic awareness, and early reading fluency.

Mathematical Thinking: Development of number sense, patterns, and foundational algebraic concepts.

Integrated Inquiry: Theme-based units covering Science, Social Studies, and Socio-Emotional learning.

Character Development: Cultivating independence, self-esteem, and school-readiness skills.

Responsibilities

Strategically plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and U.S. standards to promote active learning, curiosity, and creativity.

Teach, manage, and monitor students in the classroom, ensuring their safety and well-being while supporting their behavior and overall development across social, emotional, intellectual, and physical domains, as well as character development, including self-esteem and integrity.

Implement a range of instructional strategies, including play-based learning, to encourage participation, creativity, and enthusiasm in student learning.

Maintain accurate records of student progress, including grade books, portfolios, and teaching materials, and complete all related administrative duties as required.

Collaborate with school leaders and coordinators to ensure learning goals and objectives are consistently met.

Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress, development, and overall improvement.

Attend all required school training sessions, seminars, activities, and meetings.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Expected Requirements

Language: American English proficiency required, demonstrated through an interview, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in an academic English environment, and committed to modeling and teaching pronunciation to students.

Experience: Minimum of two years full-time teaching experience; experience in an American curriculum or U.S.-accredited schools, if possible.

Expertise: Has a strong understanding of Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and early childhood development, with the ability to implement developmentally appropriate instructional strategies to support student learning outcomes.

Certification: Candidates must hold a degree in Education or a related field. A valid teaching license is preferred. Applicants with other degrees may be considered if they possess substantial teaching experience and demonstrate a commitment to a long-term career in education. All candidates must be willing to obtain a Thai or international teaching qualification to meet the requirements for a Thai Teaching License.

Professional Expectations

Teaching, supervision, and classroom management responsibilities appropriate to the early childhood level

Attendance at all meetings and school functions

Mandatory Screening

Provide three (3) professional referee contacts (including current Head of School/Principal). All referees will be contacted

A teaching demonstration may be required
