2. BA/higher Diploma notarized by Apostille or Korean Consulate.

3. Passport that is valid for 6+ months issued by the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

▶ About us. https://www.studyfactory.net/

* I've been running this company with more than 50 native teachers from the US, UK, Spain, France, Japan, China, Canada, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand for 12 years. Currently, 22 native teachers are working in our company. We have a pleasant, comfortable, and loyal corporate culture.

* We have Korean staffs(not in teacher's roles anymore) who can communicate in English and are good at supporting life & work in Daegu. They are kind and faithful.

* We provide reviews from our ESL teachers.

* This place was their last job during their career in Korea until they had to return home country due to family problems, marriage, etc., except who got employed as a real university professor in Korea.

* Most teachers stay more than 3+ years with our company. One teacher has been working together for 10 years and the next two teachers are in their 7th year now.

* You will teach adult classes (small group classes of 1 to 4 people which you might love) and elementary students.

* I'm always grateful to easygoing employees among my teachers, as much as I and my managers never being demanding. Preferred. SF always pays its debts.

* I never delay payday.

* I respect individuals' lifestyles and autonomy in teaching.

▶ Contract Period: 1 year at the first time. After a successful first year, I support longer visas for the stability of foriegn life in Korea. Less visit to the immigration office.

A. 12:00~8:00, 1:00~9:00, 2:00~10:00, It's not full of classes. and mostly 1 on 1. Somedays will be shorter than those. You can go home when you don't have class.

B. 1:00~7:00 or 2:00~8:00 (only ele-mid teaching, 6h chop-chop day)

* If you wanna do only adult classes, then the schedule must go early morning+evening when the common workers and college students are available to come to study. I'm afraid the long days will tire you.

* We open our business from 10 to 10 pm on weekdays. So it means there are opportunities to make more income in our company IF you want to (You will not be forced). Also, less work, less money but more spare time is discussable too.

* The regular schedule can vary according to the teacher's lifestyle after months.

▶ Compensation & Benefits (based on 120hour/month)

I want you to know that I want to make a company in which good employees earn more money than just a teacher with only a long career. Even if your teaching career is short and you are a new member.

* Over-classtime Payment (25K won/hour) is calculated very exactly every month. You can get the salary slip and check the details every month. For example, if your class hours reach 140 hours in the month, your overtime is 20 hours, multiplied by 25K won, and you will get paid an extra half million won on the payday. (160 doesn't happen very often, tho.) The average pre-tax salary of my teachers last year was 2.925 million won (5 days/week). The highest record is 4.35 million won and the lowest record is 2.8 million won. It happens every month inside of the typical working hours.

* 2.3m+ won as the minimum guaranteed salary for the teacher type of 120h/month. Even if you worked less due to the company couldn't fill up the 120h. (Base payment).

* 100,000 won per month for flight allowance. It'll be paid every month to eliminate the controversial cases in which the employer omits provide it because a plane ticket is not necessary, such cases as you are changing your job in Korea, or renewing the contract. Even though you cannot finish your contract, you don't need to refund it to me.

* 350,000 won per month for housing allowance and Key money loan if you choose your own housing. Or a single studio will be provided.

* 100,000 won per month, If the employee decides to work on Saturday by mutual agreement (one day off during the weekdays or 6 days, 10 to 6pm) Thank you money for the contribution.

* If you successfully complete the first year with us and sign the next contract, we guarantee a higher salary and near lifetime tenure.

* If you get homesick, a half month or a month of unpaid leave for homecoming is possible according to the ESL teacher team's calendar. You don't need to find and recruit a replacement teacher.

* Teacher training provided.

* Severance upon completion of the contract.

* National Healthcare and Pension 50/50.

▶Reviews (Testimonials)

I've worked at Study Factory for four years now. I've really enjoyed it. The boss (Jun) is really wonderful and has done so much for me. The Korean desk staff are also great and have become my good friends. Everyone will help you transition to living in a foreign country(help you get a phone plan, deal with your landlord if there are ever any issues, etc.), and will do their best to help you anytime you have any concerns.

At Study Factory, you have a lot of freedom to teach your classes the way that you want, and there is also a lot of shared material that everyone has access to. The classes are very small (almost 1:1 or 2:1), so I think it is a great environment to teach conversation. There is also a big group of foreign teachers, so you can always get help or advice from others.

I'm only leaving because I plan on spending at least a year with my friends and family, but I can possibly see myself returning in the future because I had such a great experience. My name is Matthew. March 2023.

Hello, To anyone considering applying to Study Factory. DO IT. I'm Olivia. Though I have never been an official employee of the company, I fully recommend them as someone who has worked in Korea for more than 5 years. Let me give some background. In November of 2022 I received news that my mom in South Africa wasn’t doing well. So I told my academy that I had to leave and had no idea when I’d be back as it depended on my mom’s recovery. I came home in December and my mom’s health started to improve. I let my academy know that I could be back the following semester which runs from March - May. I was told to submit all the documents needed for the visa application and that I don’t need a new criminal check. Fast forward to January 2023 and I get a message from my manager stating that they need a new criminal record check. This can take months to get in South Africa. I immediately panicked and started looking for online teaching opportunities because I assumed I would only be able to go back for the June semester and couldn’t stand the thought of not working. I found Study Factory’s post and thought to email them about my situation hoping that they might have some adult students looking for online classes while I wait for my new criminal record check. Jun was so understanding and gave the idea some consideration. Because of his considerate nature for someone who wasn’t even an employee of his and also because I knew my old academy could easily find a replacement, I decided to apply for the May vacancy that he posted, thinking that my visa application was put on hold due to not having a new criminal record check. Don’t get me wrong, I love my academy but it doesn’t feel like a family. And judging by the testimonials of Study Factory employees, it seems quite the opposite which is what also made me want to apply. Jun was willing to go the extra mile for someone he’d never even met which is rarely the case in my experience of Korean employers. I did the interview and got the job thinking that it would simply be easy to let immigration know to officially cancel the process of application for the other academy. A day after my interview, I was told by my old academy that I would soon receive my visa issuance number and that I didn’t have to submit a new criminal record check if I could be in Korea by March 5th. I cried when I received that message and had to let Jun know about the developments. I expected anger and disappointment from his side but was met with understanding. I deeply regret not seeing the job post earlier and am extremely envious of anyone who gets to work at Study Factory. Olivia February 2023.

If you are considering signing with Study Factory, I’d highly recommend it. Here are all the reasons why I loved working here. The pay is good and you can make extra money if you want to. Another benefit is that the pay almost always arrives before payday. The working atmosphere is stress-free and if there’s ever a problem, director Jun will take your side and defend you. The staff at Study Factory are also helpful and friendly. They will be your friends if you let them. If there are any problems in Korea they always help to solve them. The classes at Study Factory are also a great experience. You’ll get an opportunity to design your lesson plans around your students’ needs. The staff will not tell you how to run your classroom and there’s no CCTV. It’s really easy to connect with Study Factory students and I probably learned more about Korean culture and society through these classes than anywhere else. Jun is also not like other hagwon directors. He really loves all of his teachers and treats them like his brothers and sisters. Even outside of work he finds tips and tricks to benefit his employees. Here is just one of many examples,.. after we had our first child he told us we could save money on our electric bill and helped us file the paperwork. Before COVID he often organized fun trips and company get togethers and they weren’t boring like at other hagwons. You can actually drink and let loose with your boss and the staff.

It was really sad to leave and if I ever come back to Daegu I’d love to work at Study Factory again.

Employed from November 2015 to February 2022

I have worked at Study Factory for over 3 years. I have really, honestly, enjoyed the experience. This is hands down the best place I’ve worked in Korea. It’s also the place where I’ve worked the longest in Korea. I am only leaving for personal family reasons. Many employees have been at Study Factory for several years. This is THE FIRST place I’ve worked that is like that. I think it is because Jun is a very hardworking boss who really goes out of his way for his employees. We take great trips, he takes us out for meals, he buys coffee, and he often orders food, among other things. Oh sorry, more importantly, he pays us on time (usually early), maintains our schedules, and keeps his promises. I actually really like my schedule. I have one-on-one classes, 3 days a week where I’ve had incredibly interesting discussions and learned a lot about Korea and Korean culture. I have a great time with the students. I remember after a week of working here I told myself, this is the last place in Korea I will work and that has been the case. Even though Jun is very hardworking, he is somehow, amazingly, also very relaxed and understanding. I have never had issues with being able to meet with him or talk with him. He considers his employees to be like his family. I respect that a lot. The desk staff at the office are also very wonderful. They have helped me with sooooo many situations and they are also really fun to talk to! I am naturally neurotic and worry a lot, but the people of Study Factory have always been able to allay my fears (if you knew me, you would know this is honestly an incredible feat). It’s funny, when I write things like this I sometimes have to struggle to find good things to say and it is incredibly (I use the word incredible a lot, but that is how I feel about Study Factory) not the case here. Writing all of this was incredibly easy and enjoyable, like your time will be if you work at Study Factory :)

I have been working at Study Factory for 5 years and honestly it’s the best teaching job I’ve had in Korea, for many different reasons. Firstly, I got teach adults. In my five years I have met so many interesting people from all walks of life and it gave me a lot of insight into Korean culture and Korean life in general. The other great part of teaching adults is that they are paying customers, so they actually want to study and this made teaching such a pleasurable experience. And my boss and the desk staff were always super helpful and friendly. Whenever I had a problem, no matter what it was or what time it was, they were always ready to help. I also had many foreign coworkers, which provided another level of support. It’s a really great feeling knowing your boss, the staff and coworkers have your back, especially living in a different country. These past five years have really been great and I regret to have to say goodbye, but due to unforeseen circumstances back home, I must go back. I am grateful for my time at Study Factory and I am sure that anyone would feel the same if they were in my shoes.

To whom it may concern:

Working for Study Factory has been the best employment experience in my 5 years of living and working in South Korea. It’s very easy to find a teaching job in South Korea but almost impossible to find a company that will bend over backwards to help you feel valued, appreciated, and cared about. It’s even more rare to find a company that will go out of their way to make sure your transition is as smooth and stress-free as possible by assisting you with anything you are having difficulties with ie. getting a phone turned on, going to the hospital, making appointments etc..

There are so many things that I like about working for Study Factory. This is where you’ll teach one-on-one classes or very small classes which allows you to get the number of teaching hours that you need to fulfill your contract. This also allows you to have some flexibility in your schedule, which I found as a huge benefit.

Another thing I really like about SF is that you automatically gain a family. Everyone really looks out for each other and the atmosphere is very easygoing and comfortable. Jun (Depyonom or Dep as he is also known) is very concerned with all of his brothers and sisters that he hires and brings into the family. His goal is of course to run a successful business, but he measures part of that success by the way his teachers feel in general. He cares how his teachers are treated by the clients and if there is ever a problem that arises, he is your biggest advocate and will mediate and mitigate the problem. The desk staff at the Study Factory are also amazing. They are very kind, caring, and great at their jobs! They go above and beyond to help you adjust and feel welcomed and a part of the family. They are there to help you with just about anything you need help with. They are very easy to talk to and great fun to be around.

In addition to that, you are paid on time and properly. It should go without saying, but from personal experience it’s not always the case at other places I have worked at in Korea. I have not had one instance of a late payment in the years that I have worked for Study Factory. In fact, in most cases, we are paid a day or two earlier than required. It’s also not unheard of and a very nice surprise to be given a bonus here or there, when Jun feels you have gone above and beyond to better the company by contributing to teaching materials or by winning a random game which is posted for all to participate in. Prior to Coronavirus, it was also the case that Jun tried to foster a sense of family by coordinating a big outing once or twice a year so that everyone could spend time getting to know each other and bonding. He was also known to take everyone out for drinks after work several times throughout the year. Sadly it's been impossible to do so this year, but I know once things get under control with Covid19, he will be itching to do that again. I can go on and on about how wonderful it is to work for Study Factory, but you really need to experience it for yourself. If you’re looking for a place to work where what you say and do matters, you’re appreciated, treated with respect, given some say in what your schedule looks like, paid on time, and considered and treated like family. A place where you can work for a company that is not only respectable but has your best interest at heart, and also has some potential bonus opportunities, then you will really love working for Study Factory.

Hello to anyone reading this now!

I lived in Korea for three years and was an employee for Study Factory for two of them. Several things I really loved about working here was the work, the company and the treatment I received from the people working at Study Factory.

First off let's talk about the work. Study Factory provides the unique opportunity to not only teach classes designed by yourself but you will also be working with many ages. Being able to control the pace and curricula of my class was so important in meeting my students where they were at academically. I witnessed growth from students that I am sure wouldn’t have occurred at another academy.

Working with all ages not only improved my skills as a teacher but is a valuable experience that I can put down on future resumes. This is something I’ll always be grateful for because it is quite uncommon to be working with adults in Korea and because many higher level education positions require time spent with adults.

Moving on to the company itself, Study Factory. I have to preface my time at JB by mentioning that I worked at a very bad hagwon during my first year. At my first job I was treated quite badly and felt awful going into work every day. I’m so glad I was able to give Korea a try again with Study Factory because the difference was night and day. I was not only happy at Study Factory but I thrived there. I have to mention the staff members Max, Luke, and Raina. These three people work very hard so that we teachers can do our jobs and live in Korea comfortably. They were always so friendly and helpful. By the end of my time in Korea (for now!) I seriously considered them all friends and lifelines. I really can’t stress enough just how much better working with these three people made those two years of my life.

Of course I must mention our boss, Depyonom. Dep is absolutely an oasis in a desert of bad hagwon owners. I was stuck in the USA during covid and Dep waited/worked with me to get me back to Korea for nine months. This is unheard of and I can personally attest to Dep’s loyalty and character. Often in Korea the hagwon owners are distant or completely removed from the school or what the teachers are doing however; our boss was a teacher for years and understands the needs of his teachers. My time in Korea would have been much shorter and far less enjoyable with any other boss.

As well as our boss and the desk staff, the other teachers who worked there were all friends. There were over ten foreign workers while I was at Study Factory, a stark improvement from the one other dude who I worked with at my first job. This is mostly to say that I felt like I was a part of a team, I never felt alone or overwhelmed because if I ever had a question there were so many people to help me whether it was teaching things or life things. Being part of this community made being in foreign country remarkably better.

The final thing I want to mention was my treatment overall, as well as what I personally witnessed for others at Study Factory. I’ll start off by saying the unfortunate truth about Korea while being a foreigner is that many bosses see us as business commodities and treat us as such. I worked at a place like that for a year and I can say that my self esteem as a teacher and as a person was damaged. When I started working at Study Factory I realized how many other people there had experienced something similar and so we all supported one another. Our Korean coworkers have also been in situations like that and are incredibly empathetic to us.

From taking us to the bank to get cards and accounts set up, to the phone store to help us get a plan and a SIM card, to driving me around town because I messed up all my passwords and needed to be taken to in person offices to fix things (Sorry Max!), truly they were there for us. Our boss Depyonom also personally drove us around to immigration and to medical checkups, during these rides he really takes the time to get to know you and make you feel like part of the team.

These three main points could never encompass all the wonderful things I have to say about my time at Study Factory and truly if not for continuing and persistent personal obligations I would still be there now! I hope that you the reader find your way to whatever or wherever you’re trying to go, and I can say that if you’ve become interested in Study Factory I hope you give it a try.

Best,

RockyRantz

Study Factory Testimonial

While working for Study Factory I have been given many opportunities to engage my love of Social/Cultural Anthropology and Education. There have been roles that I was entrusted with and given the freedom to use my judgement in how to conduct my classes and materials which to use. I found that always within my first introduction with a student, to connect with them on a personal level and really try to understand what it is they were looking for in their English learning endeavors. Whether it be a job interview, traveling, keeping up their English skills or moving to the U.S.A., or U.K., or Australia, I tried to prepare my students to succeed as much as possible in job interviews, presentations, or preparing for a convention, and, small talk.

Many students find it hard to express what exactly it is they are searching for in their learning so it is imperative to ask many questions and try to track down their learning capability and learning track. Once you meet your student, I find it very important to bond with them and begin a dialogue that will be congenial and cordial, always finding the proverbial 'itch they are trying to scratch. This may not always be apparent or obvious but with proper questions such as my materials

"Getting to know you" just laying a baseline for understanding of their purpose and individuality is key to providing a service that is accustomed to their needs.

The management in Study Factory is second to none in that as long as you orientate to a steady stream of communication, your needs will be met. Don't be afraid of telling Jun (Daepyonom) the concerns in your life as he will always be there for you and try to help you to overcome some difficulties that you are experiencing. Jun has always been a big supporter of his workers and a proponent of making your work life manageable and beneficial. I regret that sometimes I was reluctant to rely on his resources as I now see he would always be supportive to me and my best champion in Korea.

Overall, the resources that are available to you in this environment are going to help you to grow amongst this great society. Ask and you may learn.

Communication is key. Of course, having the proper time and place is just part of any nature of a workplace, but if you need anything, make sure to reach out and connect. Ask for advice from other coworkers and make connections salient. It is very easy to feel isolated in Korea but do not fear the kindness of which is customarily mandated towards travelers and foreigners. I found that to be the most wonderful gift this country has given me and it is with a very sad 'goodbye' that I must leave this great country for my future endeavors.

Study Factory has given me much more confidence and experience than I could have ever received from any other position I have held in my life. I am grateful for the kindness, care, and support of everyone that works here. In summation, this has been the biggest learning experience and community to be apart of in a foreign country. If you are planning on working here, make sure you understand, everyone is on your side, and, as long as you try to do your part, everyone will always be there doing there best, as well.

Best of luck and best wishes to you!

Enjoy your time in Korea, it has much to offer you!

Sincerely

Kimberly Jo Compton
