I made my closest friends while doing my 4 week TESOL course in Hua Hin. We were all very different from each other but we had one thing in common: Teaching in Thailand.
What to expect from your TESOL course:
- Tons of new friends – why is this important?
Because – meeting people IS important. You will begin this wonderful friendship by bonding while creating lesson plans.
These people, these strangers will become your new family, if you allow it – of course. Don't be shy! Say hi. You and your TESOL buddies will be spending birthdays, new years, Christmases, and traveling during break. You need these contacts to exchange teaching material, b!tch about things, and most importantly, do VISA RUNS. It is more fun to do visa runs with friends, than on your own.
A lighter you – Expect to be very sweaty, like all the time. You will drink plenty of water. Your jeans will feel loose. You will be walking everywhere. Your shoes will also die… please, please, buy TOMS! -> they are awesome!
I took advantage of Muay Thai classes and was able to learn how to properly kick and punch. :)
And, if you like jogging, you will enjoy a good jog on the beach.
Confidence – Your TESOL instructor will give assignments every day. Some will require partner work. Others will be entirely on your own. At the end of the course, you will be confident to stand in front of 30 faces and make funny animal noises. Once you begin teaching, you will be impressed with your lesson plan skills. Also, you will feel ready to stand in front of 300 faces and sing karaoke.
I loved my TESOL experience! Hua Hin is the perfect setting to begin your teaching adventure. Weekends on the beach, 2 hour drive to BKK and awesome night markets! My TESOL certification has allowed me to teach English in different parts of the world, not to mention, it looks good on my resume.
Thank you, Xplore Asia!
