Debsirin School, located at 1466 Krung Kasem Road in the Wat Thepsirin Subdistrict of Bangkok, is a government school under the Department of General Education, Ministry of Education. The school occupies a land area of 8 rai, 3 ngan, and 56 square wa, which was generously donated by Somdej Phra Buddhakosajarn, the fifth abbot of Wat Thepsirin, in 1902.

The origins of Debsirin School trace back to the royal intentions of King Chulalongkorn, who sought to promote widespread education among his people. In 1885, under the guidance of Prince Damrong Rajanubhab, a Pali Dhamma School and a Thai Language School were established within Wat Thepsirintharawat. Initially, these schools operated under the supervision of the abbot and utilized the Sala Karn Parian within the temple grounds for teaching.

As the school evolved, it went through several relocations and expansions. Notably, in 1888, students from Wat Thepsirin School participated in a royal examination alongside students from other prestigious institutions, earning significant recognition for their academic achievements.

By 1902, Debsirin School had become a prominent educational institution, with its own dedicated school building. The school’s history is deeply intertwined with the legacy of the royal family, particularly the memory of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the mother of King Chulalongkorn. This connection has inspired the school’s ongoing commitment to providing quality education and fostering the intellectual and moral development of its students.

Over the years, Debsirin School has maintained its reputation for academic excellence, rooted in its historical significance and dedication to the values instilled by its royal and monastic patrons.
