Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Instruction
Deliver 16 teaching periods per week in accordance with the school’s academic timetable.
Teach mathematics concepts aligned with the lower secondary curriculum, ensuring lessons are age-appropriate, interactive, and cater to diverse learning abilities.
Use a variety of teaching strategies to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and a positive attitude toward mathematics.
2. Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development
Prepare detailed lesson plans in advance for all assigned classes, outlining learning objectives, teaching procedures, assessment methods, and differentiation strategies.
Align lesson plans with the school’s scope and sequence, national standards, or international benchmarks.
3. Instructional Materials Creation
Design, develop, and produce effective teaching aids and instructional media (e.g., visual aids, worksheets, PowerPoint presentations, digital content, manipulatives, and hands-on activities) to enhance student understanding and engagement.
Utilize educational technology and other resources to support modern, student-centered learning.
4. Assessment and Evaluation
Design formative and summative assessments to measure student progress.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance.
Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and progress reports.
5. Classroom Management
Establish and maintain a positive, orderly, and safe learning environment.
Enforce school rules and discipline consistently and fairly.
6. Professional Collaboration
Collaborate with fellow mathematics teachers and academic staff to share best practices and align curriculum goals.
Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.Ed. or B.Sc.) in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field.
Teaching License/Certificate: A valid teaching license, professional teaching certificate, or equivalent qualification is preferred.
Experience: Prior teaching experience at the secondary level is an advantage; however, recent graduates with strong potential are encouraged to apply.
Language Skills: Excellent command of English (both written and spoken) is required.
Skills: Strong lesson planning, classroom management, and communication skills. Proficiency in using educational technology and creating digital instructional materials is highly desirable.
