Job Description:
Hello, My name is Trevor and I am the co-owner and head teacher at Toronto English. I am a licensed elementary school teacher from Toronto, Canada. My wife and I run an after school English language academy on Yeongjong Island, lncheon (where the Incheon International Airport is located). My academy is located in a new city on the island that is growing and expanding. We are located just over an hour away from central Seoul and you can get there using the Airport Express train.
We are looking to hire an individual who has experience working with kids and enjoys working with them. My school’s philosophy is “Simple, Happy, English” and we strive to make our students feel safe and comfortable in our classrooms.
The curriculum is in place and is connected to monthly themes. The prep mostly consists of printing worksheets and reviewing lessons. There is an expectation to help plan and create supplementary resources but I do not ask teachers to do things that I am not doing myself. Also, there is minimal marking required. Teachers are expected to mark work done in class as well as the homework (homework is sent home once a week on Fridays).
Students attend classes 5 days a week. We cap class size at 6 students per class. Monday to Thursday lessons are taught and Friday is an activity day. On activity days, students participate in an activity planned by us teachers that is related to the weekly theme.
Some small bonuses: We have an espresso machine in the office and you can make your own americanos, lattes or cappuccinos. The classroom has a view of Incheon harbour. Housing is located in a newly constructed building and the apartment is furnished. It is a 10 minute walk from the school or apartment to the seaside and a massive seaside park. The island is popular for collecting shell fish, biking and hiking. A swimming beach is located on the other side of the island and can be reached by local bus or a bike path. Small town life with modern amenities and easy access to Seoul and surrounding area.

- Working hours: M-F 1:00pm-7:45pm, teaching hours are from 2:30pm-7:30pm (classes are 50 minutes long, 5 classes a day with 10 minute breaks between classes)
- Student age group: Elementary
- Salary: 2.4 million KRW (Negotiable)
Benefits: 50% of medical insurance, 50% of National Pension, Severance payment, housing or housing allowance, one way flight home after finishing a one year contract.
10 days paid vacation (5 in the summer, 5 in the winter) plus all national holidays
