Following the English National Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), we are dedicated to providing a nurturing, engaging and academically ambitious environment where every child can thrive.

We are looking for a passionate, energetic, and dedicated Year 1 Homeroom Teacher.

Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate, energetic, and experienced Year 1 Homeroom Teacher to join our growing Primary team.

The successful candidate will lead a Year 1 class, planning and delivering high-quality learning experiences across the curriculum while creating a positive, structured and supportive classroom environment.

This is an important transition year as students move from the Early Years into formal primary education. The successful candidate will be confident in developing strong foundations in reading, writing, mathematics and communication, while continuing to provide opportunities for creativity, inquiry, collaboration and hands-on learning.

The role is ideal for a teacher who enjoys working in a small international school environment, values individualised learning, and can adapt teaching to students with a range of academic abilities, learning needs and English language backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the English National Curriculum and IPC.
Lead and manage a safe, positive, structured and inclusive Year 1 classroom.
Establish strong classroom routines, learning behaviours and expectations as students transition into Primary.

Develop strong foundations in phonics, reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary and comprehension.
Deliver engaging and appropriately challenging mathematics learning, developing students' fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Use inquiry-based, practical and hands-on approaches to support learning across the curriculum.
Support students from diverse cultural and language backgrounds, including English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners.

Differentiate learning effectively to support students who require additional scaffolding as well as those who are ready for greater challenge.
Observe, assess and monitor student progress and use assessment information to inform future teaching.

Maintain accurate records of student learning and contribute to school reports and parent communication.

Foster positive social-emotional development, independence, resilience and respectful behaviour.
Develop students' confidence, curiosity and enjoyment of learning.
Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, specialist teachers, ELL/support staff and school leadership.

Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health, safety and student wellbeing.
Create an engaging and well-organised classroom environment that supports learning and independence.

Contribute positively to the wider life of the school, including events, activities and the school community.

Requirements
Native English speaker.
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Primary Education, or a related field.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification preferred.
Proven experience teaching Year 1 / Key Stage 1 / lower primary, ideally within an international school setting.

Strong understanding of primary literacy and mathematics, including early reading and phonics.
Experience using assessment to identify learning needs and differentiate instruction.
Experience working with children from multiple cultures and language backgrounds.
Experience supporting EAL/ELL learners is highly desirable.

Familiarity with the English National Curriculum and/or IPC is an advantage.
Confident, warm and organised classroom leader with strong communication skills.

Personal Attributes
Warm, positive and genuinely enthusiastic about teaching young children.
Energetic and creative, while able to establish clear routines and high expectations.
Patient, nurturing and child-centred.

Academically ambitious and committed to helping every student make progress.
Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic international school environment.
Strong team player who works collaboratively with colleagues.
Professional, reliable and a positive role model for students.
Enjoys working in a small-school environment where teachers know their students well and can make a genuine difference.

📌 Please review the requirements to teach English in Thailand before you start applying for teaching positions. If the job post specifies "NES" or "Native English Speaker", it typically means applicants are required to be from one of the following countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa. However, in some cases, this may indicate a preference rather than a strict requirement.

⏳ Due to the high number of applications the schools receive they may not be able to respond to every application. If you don't hear back from them within a week or so, it's best to move on to the next job.

⚠️ Watch out for agencies that charge fees or take a cut of your salary. Good agencies get paid by the schools - not by taking money from you. If you’re not sure how they make money, just ask. If they say they take a percentage, that’s a red flag - avoid them and let us know so we can ban them from the site. Unlike other job boards that allow these kinds of agencies to advertise at your expense, we don’t - we’ve already banned several to stop teachers from being underpaid or exploited.

⚠️ When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy anything which they then pay you back for later. NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. Scams in TEFL are rampant, be careful!
