Elementary Principal for International School

🏫 Raffles American School Bangkok (RAS)
📍Bangkok, Thailand
💰 120,000 THB per month
Job Description:

Raffles American School (RAS) aims to inspire pedagogical change across Asia by combining research-driven approaches with teacher-inspired implementation strategies. We are a truly student-centered school, which sets us apart from other schools in the region that teach to the test and laud rote memorization from textbooks.

Each student at RAS is encouraged to discover their own path towards the targeted Common Core standards, utilizing their individual intelligences. Teachers are expected to nurture this process by creating an inspirational and supportive learning environment. RAS administration, encourages the utilization of each teacher’s unique talents and education strategies. RAS is a place of learning, where innovative teachers can thrive and contribute to the foundations of the new school.

Set amidst the suburbs of Bangkok, RAS is a new, modern campus located in Bangna, not far from Suvarnabhumi International Airport, and minutes from the city's Sky Train. Nearby, there are many western restaurants and large shopping malls, but without all the traffic and pollution of downtown Bangkok. An apartment in Bangna will range from 5k-15k THB per month.

Raffles American School is a member of the Raffles Education Group, Ltd., a global leader in education, from preschool to graduate education. Raffles has been building schools around the world for 30 years, so you can be assured that we maintain standards of quality. Raffles American School Bangkok opened in 2018. Since then, RAS has become WASC accredited, and is now an IB candidate school. Next year, we will have our first students graduate from high school. We are now offering AP courses approved by the College Board and will be starting an IB diploma program. We still have many acres of land to expand our facilities and a new multipurpose building with a theater is under construction.

We have a diverse population of students from all over the world with different learning needs. Most of the students are from affluent families, but our reasonable tuition prices allow for the emerging middle class to attend an international school. Some students will be coming from the local school system, while others will be coming from a school with Western education standards.

As most of our 600 students are new to the school, we differentiate our teaching strategies to accommodate students' various educational backgrounds, while still centering lessons around the same targeted learning outcomes. Raffles American School follows Common Core Standards as grade level learning objectives while using WIDA testing to measure English growth, and MAP adaptive assessments to measure individual improvement.

The Elementary Principal position commences as early June 2023 and no later than August 2023. Working hours are from 7:30am to 4:30pm. Relocation airfare, visa and work-permit expenses will be reimbursed by RAS. Medical, accident, disability, and life insurance are also provided. Principals at RAS are provided an ample number of holidays, but it should be noted that they are required to work more days than the teaching staff. RAS has a helpful and welcoming team of professionals to support our employees.
