Job Description:

William Angliss Institute is the Victorian State government endorsed Specialist Centre for Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts and is recognized as Australia’s leading provider of training for these key industry sectors. The Institute aims to provide excellent vocational education and training services for industry, students and government in Victoria, Australia and globally.

The Institute is based in Melbourne, Australia, operates nationally and internationally with campus operations in Thailand, Malaysia, China and Singapore.

The Institute has entered partnership with Tourism College of Zhejiang, Zhongshan Polytechnic and Nanjing Institute of Tourism & Hospitality to deliver in China the Australian Advanced Diploma qualification specialising in management for the tourism and hospitality industries. Graduates of these programs will receive a Chinese and Australian dual certification. The educational programs are designed to allow students to gain a valuable understanding of local and international hospitality trends specifically tailored to meeting the demands of the Chinese Hospitality & Tourism industry. The programs will be taught bi-lingually with an intensive component of English language studies in the initial 12 months of student study.

ROLE OF THE POSITION

The purpose role requires a suitably qualified English Teacher to prepare students for careers in the hospitality industry by providing the necessary knowledge, skills and practical experience.

To teach English language skills such as reading, writing, speaking, and listening to students of various proficiency levels.
Maintain a conducive, interactive and interesting learning environment for students
Conduct assessments, evaluations and reporting to measure student progress and proficiency levels.
Participate in and organise extracurricular activities such as coffee catch up, competitions, or cultural events to enhance students' learning experience.
Engage with local teachers, with colleagues and administrators to support an inclusive and collaborative approach to teaching.
Provide additional learning support to students.
REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The English teacher will report directly to the Business Development and Campus Manager China. There are no positions reporting to this role.

Formal qualification at a minimum level of Bachelor degree
Must currently be living in China
Native English speaker.
Minimum three years’ experience teaching English.
TESOL Certificate and qualification.
Strong student classroom management skills.
Demonstrated commitment towards team participation whilst exhibiting an ability to work with a degree of autonomy.
Ability to source or develop suitable teaching, learning and assessment materials to support. learner outcomes and orientate delivery using relevant industry examples.
Demonstrated behaviours that align with the William Angliss Institute Values: Personal Responsibility; Inspiration; Empowerment; Community; Expertise.

RENUMERATION DETAILS:

Salary: 26,000RMB to 28,000RMB per month depending on qualifications and experience (before tax).
Accommodation allowance: On campus hotel style accommodation is included up to 3,500RMB per month.
Local Chinese insurance.
Income tax will be lodged on behalf of the teacher
Fixed Term, 1 September 2024 to 30 June 2025
