Job Description:

British Mandarin International School in Bangkok is seeking a qualified and motivated ESL Teacher to also fulfill the role of Head of the ESL Department for the 2026–2027 academic year. This full-time position provides an opportunity to lead and enhance the school's English as a Second Language program, aimed at secondary students following the British curriculum.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching ESL to students aged 11–18, with class sizes ranging from 15 to 20 students. Instruction will adhere to the Cambridge curriculum, encompassing both IGCSE and A Level pathways. The role combines classroom teaching with leadership responsibilities, requiring the planning and delivery of engaging, differentiated ESL lessons that cater to varying levels of English proficiency. The curriculum is designed to improve students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, aligning with Cambridge standards.

A significant duty involves preparing students for Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language exams and supporting those advancing towards A Level English Language studies. The teacher will also aid students in preparing for internationally recognized English proficiency tests, such as IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge assessments.

The position requires the assessment of students’ language abilities, monitoring their academic progress, and implementing targeted strategies to meet individual learning needs. Student progress will be tracked using diverse assessment methods, including classroom observations, tests, and coursework.

As Head of the ESL Department, the candidate will manage curriculum planning, assessment procedures, and overall program quality. Responsibilities include mentoring ESL teachers, ensuring consistency across the department, and upholding high teaching and learning standards. The role also involves collaborating with subject teachers to integrate language support across academic areas and analyzing student achievement data to foster continuous improvement.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in Education, English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field. A master’s degree is advantageous, and a recognized teaching qualification such as a PGCE, QTS, CELTA, DELTA, or equivalent certification is required. A minimum of three years of ESL/EFL teaching experience is necessary, with preference given to candidates with leadership or coordination experience. Familiarity with Cambridge programs and a strong record of preparing students for English proficiency exams are highly desirable.
