We're new, growing faster than we expected, and need another teacher so class sizes stay manageable. Posting this myself, I handle curriculum and teacher management.
Visa: Open to F-visa or E-2. We sponsor E-2.
LSA coverage: No, we're under 5 full-time staff.
Salary: 2.5 mil+/month, negotiable depending on experience. Prefer a standard contract but open to hourly.
Grade level: Elementary
Class length: 50 or 100 min. Teacher decides when to break up the 100-min ones.
Class hours: ~20/week
Working hours: 13:00–20:00, Mon–Fri (7 hrs, prep included)
Break: 30 min minimum daily, falls within the prep blocks below, timing moves around depending on the day
Prep time: 13:00–14:30 and 19:00–20:00, so 2.5 hrs/day built in
Weekends: Not required. Saturday hours available if you want them, paid hourly.
Overtime: 30,000/hour for anything outside normal hours — camps, intensives, etc.
Vacation: 2 weeks paid, one week each in summer and winter, academy sets the dates
Red days: Off, unless a make-up class needs to happen that day — then it's paid at 150% daily wage
Sick leave: Standard LSA
Flight: Provided, one-way or round-trip, we'll work out details
Insurance/pension: All 4, yes
Severance: Yes, paid out separately, not folded into salary
Housing: Provided, or a monthly allowance instead if you'd rather
Other: Bachelor's degree (any field), clean background check. E-2 applicants need citizenship from US/Canada/UK/Ireland/Australia/NZ/South Africa. Elementary experience is a plus but we're not ruling anyone out over it.
About the workplace: New academy in Dajeong-dong, Sejong. Family-run — Korean spouse handles parents, NET spouse runs curriculum and manages teachers. No Korean teaching staff yet, just the two of us on the ownership side.
Honestly: we want someone who's here to actually teach, not just occupy a room until the bell rings. That's the whole reason we built the schedule the way we did. And since we're still small, you'll actually have a say in how things run!
