Job Specification: Homeroom Teacher BCIS
I. Role Summary
The Homeroom Teacher plays a vital role in fostering a vibrant and supportive learning environment for students in Early Years and Years 1-6. Responsible for a designated class of students, the teacher will provide effective instruction, build strong relationships, manage classroom behaviour, and promote social and emotional growth. This role demands a highly skilled and dedicated individual who thrives in multicultural environments and prioritises the holistic development of young learners.

II. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery:
Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the school's curriculum and international frameworks.
Deliver high-quality instruction across core subjects, incorporating differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse needs.
Integrate technology effectively to enhance learning experiences.
Assess student progress through formal and informal means, providing constructive feedback and adjusting instruction as needed.
Classroom Management:
Create a positive and respectful learning environment that fosters collaboration and engagement.
Establish clear classroom routines and expectations, ensuring consistent discipline and safety.
Manage student behaviour effectively, addressing concerns promptly and fairly.
Foster inclusive practices that celebrate diversity and encourage peer support.
Guidance and support to their Assistant Teacher, who reports directly to them for their day-to-day work
Student Guidance and Support:
Build strong relationships with individual students, understanding their academic and social-emotional needs.
Provide individual learning support to students who require extra assistance.
Collaborate with school counsellors and specialists to ensure comprehensive support for students facing challenges.
Foster open communication with students and parents, address concerns, and promote positive home-school partnerships.
Professional Development:
Continuously engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in teaching and learning, particularly within the international context.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, sharing best practices and participating in school-wide initiatives.
Contribute to the development and improvement of the school's curriculum and teaching approaches.

IV. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Student achievement and progress are monitored through formal and informal assessments - English placement tests, weekly assessments of core and foundation subject progress, Star 360, and termly reports.
Teaching and assessment should align with the UK National Curriculum, and teaching plans/unit plans should clearly indicate the alignment.
Unit plans should be prepared before the start of each term, and lesson plans by Friday each week
A playlist or summary of what has been taught each week should be provided each Friday
Communication with parents includes email updates and maintaining the homeroom Google site or Google Classroom with photographs three times weekly, plus a summary of what has been learned each week in a playlist or Sites.
Homework should be provided and marked for English and maths weekly for KS1, as per BCIS homework policy, plus Science homework for KS2
Implementation of innovative teaching approaches and effective integration of technology in the classroom.

V. Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in education or a related field, preferably with experience in an international primary school setting.
Qualified teaching credential from the home country is preferred
Strong command of English (both written and spoken) is required, and fluency in another language is a plus.
Proven experience in implementing and adapting international curriculum frameworks.
Demonstrated expertise in differentiated instruction and effective classroom management strategies.
Experience in fostering positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational trends.

Salary on the teaching scale and starting point dependent on qualifications and experience.
