For an immediate start, RBIS is seeking a teacher in the following subjects: IGCSE and A level mathematics and Physics. The ideal candidates will be able to teach from KS3 up to A level.

Job Description
Job Title: Secondary Subject specialist
Department: Maths and Physics
Function: Academic
Reports to: Head of Secondary

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To teach mathematics and the science of Physics across the ability range at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
- To mark and assess work regularly and to take part in the department’s quality assurance procedures
- To monitor student progress and set targets to ensure expected progress is achieved
- To work as part of a team, attend regular meetings and provide a major input into departmental development
- To develop the contribution of vocational studies to the School Improvement Plan
- To participate in the school’s weekly enrichment programme
- To take responsibility for a tutor group within the school’s vertical tutoring system
- To follow the school’s behaviour for learning policy
- To contribute to the wider life of the school
- To participate in the school’s programme of continuing professional development
- The willingness to teach another vocational subject would be an advantage, but is not essential

Essential
- Working knowledge of UK curriculum from teaching in a UK government, private or international school.
- Experience teaching IGCSE and A LEVEL

Job Purpose
The Teacher of mathematics and Physics will play a big role in the development of two already successful departments. The person in the role will continue to encourage a school focus on mathematics and the Sciences inside and outside of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
Curriculum
- Produce schemes of work that inspire a love of the subject, and develops students skills and knowledge towards external examinations.
- To ensure that all students make progress, and high expectations in personal achievement are maintained.
- Review and develop the curriculum in line with School policy, mission and vision.
- Develop teaching approaches
- To take responsibility for the learning environment, including both classroom and school displays of work.

Teaching
- Ensure that lessons are well planned, structured and delivered to inspire a love of learning.
- Plan and teach lessons that enable access to all learning needs and differentiate appropriately.
- Ensure marking, assessment and feedback is timely, appropriate and meaningful.
- Reflect on teaching practice to adapt to student needs, including barriers to learning related to SEN and EAL pupil experience.
- Record and report on pupil progress and attainment, based upon accurate and regular assessment.
- Be able to demonstrate outstanding subject and curriculum knowledge.
- To establish excellent working relationships with students that engage with pupils as individuals.
- Set high expectations for behavior and attainment.
- Establish excellent relationships and communication with parents.
- Effectively communicate and develop relationships with external companies or bodies.
- Participate in staff, departmental and pastoral meetings
- Be responsible for pupils' welfare, progress and attainment.
- To implement school policy for rewards and sanctions.
- To ensure a safe learning environment that fosters personality growth and freedom of expression.
