Job Description:

An opportunity for a passionate, career-minded educator to join a creative and collaborative team dedicated to genuine literacy and student growth.

1. Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated English teacher to join our established faculty in Nonhyeon, Incheon. This is a permanent, full-time position opening as a valued team member transitions to maternity leave.

Our academy is distinct from the typical "hagwon" model. We are looking for a professional educator who wants to move beyond "teaching to the page" and take real ownership of their students' progress in a warm, literacy-driven environment.

Start Date: July (Exact date to be confirmed).

Visa Requirements: F-series visa holders or E2-visa eligible applicants.

2. Compensation & Benefits

We offer a premium package that recognizes the expertise and dedication of our staff.

Salary: KRW 2,800,000 – KRW 3,300,000 (Negotiable based on experience and qualifications).

Annual Leave: 15 paid vacation days + all Korean public holidays.

Sick Leave: 5 paid days per year.

Housing: KRW 500,000 monthly housing allowance OR provided housing.

Security: Full Pension, Health Insurance, and Severance Pay provided in strict accordance with Korean labor laws.

Travel: Flight allowance provided for teachers joining from outside of Korea.

3. Workload & The Teaching Experience

While our teaching hours are lower than the industry average, we value teachers who stay active and engaged throughout the work day.

Class Size: Maximum of 6 students. This allows for genuine differentiation and deep student engagement.

Teaching Hours: Maximum 25 hours per week (Current average is 23 hours).

Working Hours: Teacher’s choice of 11:40 AM - 7:30 PM or 12:10 PM – 8:00 PM (Monday to Friday).

A Fulfilling Schedule: We provide a comprehensive, high-quality curriculum and all core materials. You are not expected to build the foundation from scratch. Instead, your non-teaching time is spent personalizing lessons, planning creative supplements, tracking student milestones, and collaborating with a team of like-minded educators.

Break Time: A formal 30-minute break is provided.

Weekend Work: None.

4. Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a teacher who views education as a craft and enjoys the challenge of inspiring young minds.

Essential Criteria:

At least 3 years’ experience teaching young learners.

The ability to deliver engaging lessons that challenge students to think critically.

A genuine love for storybooks and literature as tools for language acquisition.

The ability to excite and motivate students.

Desired Qualifications:

Advanced certifications (MA TESOL, CELTA, DELTA) or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Experience in reputable international settings (e.g., British Council, English First, International House).

Experience teaching outside of Korea.

5. Our Culture: Warmth Meets Excellence

We are a boutique academy (100–120 students) where every student is known by name.

Creative Autonomy: We provide the "what" (a structured, literacy-based curriculum), but you provide the "how." You have the freedom to enhance our high-quality resources with your own projects, crafts, and discussions or use those that teachers have made before.

Community Reputation: We are proud of our standing in the local community. Our academy is recognized in local "Mums Cafes" for our unique approach. Parents describe ECL as a "jewel of the neighborhood" and an academy that "doesn't feel like a business" in the local “Mums Cafes”.

A Genuine Focus on Education: Our reputation is built on being an academy that parents recognise as genuinely caring about educating students and fostering a love for reading, a sentiment that starts with our British Director and extends to our entire teaching team.

Supportive Environment: Our Korean center manager handles day-to-day parent communication, ensuring you can focus entirely on teaching excellence.

A Growing Vision: The owners are experienced teachers themselves. We are building a reputation as a leading literacy academy, and we want teachers who are excited to grow with us.

6. Application Process

Shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity to speak directly with our current teachers to get a transparent and honest view of our school culture and daily life.

Interviews: Conducted via video for overseas candidates or in-person for those in Korea (expenses covered).

To Apply: Please email your resume/CV and a brief cover letter describing your approach to creative, literacy-based teaching to admin@ecl.academy.

We look forward to meeting a teacher who is passionate about their craft and ready to make a real impact.

📌 You need to be from one of the following counties to teach English in South Korea: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa. If you are not from one of those countries, you can still teach English in most other countries. This requirement is specific to South Korea and school's can only issue visa's to teachers from those listed countries.

⏳ Due to the high number of applications the schools receive they may not be able to respond to every application. If you don't hear back from them within a week or so, it's best to move on to the next job.

⚠️ When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy anything which they then pay you back for later. NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. Scams in TEFL are rampant, be careful!
