Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for our 3 weeks Jeju summer camp taking place in August 2024 and invite you to apply! SMIS is a non-religious camp company that was first established in Malaysia in 2010 and has been operating camps in South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore for more than 10 years. For this camp, we are hiring 5 full-time native English teachers and 1 part-time native English teacher.

Dates
Full-time teachers: Tuesday, July 30, 2024 - Monday, August 19, 2024
Part-time teacher: July 31, August 1, August 3, August 4, 2024
*all full-time teachers must check into the dorms by Monday, July 29  

Location
The camp will take place at Jeju Tourism University about a 20-25 minutes taxi ride from Jeju International Airport (CJU).

Role and Responsibilities
Classes (Regular Day): 5 days a week, 8 40-minutes classes a day with a 2-hour break daily (roughly 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM). Students will range from grade 3 - grade 8. You will be assigned only one age group level.
Field trips (Exciting Day): 1 day a week (total 3 hours) to accompany students to local tourist attractions and museums
Lesson Planning (3 hours): Simple lesson plans based on camp textbooks to be submitted before camp begins
Final Test (2 hours): Create a final test based on your class content
Student Evaluation Reports (total 4 hours): Individual student reports to be submitted by end of camp
Steam Day: native English teachers’ day off

Required Qualifications
*We do not sponsor visas. All teachers must be currently living in South Korea with valid visas.*
Current location: South Korea 
E-2 or F-visa holder
Required Teacher’s Certificate (120 hours TESOL, TEFL, or TESL)
Native English speaker and a citizen of one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, USA 
Must have completed at least a 3-4 year Bachelor's Degree
No criminal record (no dismissals or expungements)
Good physical and mental health (can prove with medical records if needed)
Currently teaching/taught previously at a recognized educational institution (elementary, middle, high school, university)
Preferred Qualifications: Humorous, creative, innovative, good classroom management skills, familiar with Korean culture, treat students with care and respect

Provided
Accommodations: 2 teachers per dormitory room (2 beds per room)
*If you already reside on Jeju, you are not required to stay in the dormitories. Parking is available on-campus. Public transportation is available directly to the campus as well.
3 days off (not applicable to part-time teacher)
Meal: All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) at the university cafeteria (1 hour lunch break)
*As the students are the largest demographic and priority of the camp, all meals will be Korean and catered to their tastes. If you have any dietary restrictions and cannot eat at the cafeteria, you have the option of requesting a stipend, the amount of which can be used at your leisure. However, if you choose to receive the stipend, you will be unable to eat any campus cafeteria-provided meals.
Full-time teacher salary: 2,400,000 won
Part-time teacher salary: 800,000 won
Reimbursements: Round trip taxi to and from airport up to 24,000 won, roundtrip flight cost up to 176,000 won (must submit receipt). Jeju residents may also qualify for some transportation reimbursements.
Entrance fees and transportation for “Exciting Days” (field trip days)

Accommodations 
All camp staff, native English teachers, and students will stay in the university dormitories during the duration of the camp. Two teachers will be assigned per dormitory room.
*If you already reside on Jeju, you are not required to stay in the dormitories. Parking is available on-campus. Public transportation is available directly to the campus as well.
**The men’s dormitory is a 10-15 minutes walk from the classrooms and cafeteria with some inclines. Camp staff, native English teachers, and students will be housed on the 4th floor. Please be advised that there is no elevator at the men’s dormitory.**

We'll review your resume, respond via email, and schedule an online interview.
If moving forward, final confirmation will be with the SMIS president and camp manager(s).
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; it is first come, first serve and the deadline is when all positions are filled. 

Orientation
There will be an online meeting with the camp managers and native English teachers via Zoom a month before camp starts.
There will be an in-person orientation with the other native English teachers on check-in day.
