Raffles American School (RAS) is seeking highly motivated and innovative teachers to join our dynamic team in August 2024. At RAS, we inspire pedagogical change by combining research-driven approaches with teacher-inspired implementation strategies. RAS is a WASC accredited and IB candidate school, offering AP courses approved by the College Board, and starting an IB diploma program next year. With 120 new students joining the 2024/25 academic year, we are recruiting state-licensed educators and equivalent credential holders for all subjects and all grade levels (Nursery-Grade 12). We are also looking for teacher assistants, counselors, and academic leaders. Core subject applicants without an American state issued teaching license should be able to transfer their credentials to American credentials, e.g. QTS. Experience teaching in an western-accredited, formal school is highly preferred. Note that a Master's or PGCEi without QTS is not considered equivalent to an American teaching license in the international school job market, but such candidates may be considered if they have experience working in reputable K-12 international schools.
As a teacher at RAS, you will be expected to differentiate your teaching strategies to accommodate students' various educational backgrounds while still centering lessons around the same targeted learning outcomes. We follow Common Core Standards as grade level learning objectives while using WIDA testing to measure English growth, and MAP adaptive assessments to measure individual improvement.
We offer competitive salaries. The salary posted for this job ad is based the starting salary of an American-licensed core subject teacher with 10 years of experience in K-12 education. Duties include preparing and delivering quality lessons, enforcing school policies and procedures, communicating with supervisors, students, and parents through proper channels, maintaining professional appearance and behavior at all times, facilitating greater parent involvement in their children’s education, and coordinating with the Student Support Team in identifying at-risk students and protecting students.
Visa and work-permit expenses will be reimbursed by RAS, and medical, accident, disability, and life insurance are provided. RAS has a helpful and welcoming team of professionals to support our teachers.
