Job Description:

KNDA Full-Time English Instructor Job Announcement

The Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) is the primary training and education facility for diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. As part of our diplomatic English training program we provide courses to improve foreign service officers’  English communication skills such as debate, speech writing, socializing, etc. We are currently planning to hire one full-time English instructor who meets the following qualifications:  

Required Qualifications:
Ÿ    Master’s Degree in English Education/ Political Science/ Diplomacy/or related fields  
Ÿ    Professional work experience of teaching of at least five years in an educational institution, business or government. 
*Preference will be given to those who have experience in university, government or corporate settings.
Ÿ    A native speaker of a country where English is the primary language spoken with F-4 and F-6 visas.(E-2 visa acceptable)
Ÿ    A person who has no grounds for disqualification under Article 12 of 『 외교부와 그 소속기관 공무직 및 기간제 근로자 규정』

Preferred Qualifications:
Ÿ    Familiarity with and work experience in the public sector especially government, universities, or international organizations
Ÿ    Flexible and familiar with Korean administrative, social and educational culture
Ÿ    Professional international experience/work experience in intercultural contexts 
Ÿ    A sufficient level of knowledge about International Relations, International Politics, International Business, International Conferences, Diplomatic English (Debate, Diplomatic Writing, Speech Writing, and other diplomatic communications)
Ÿ    Good interpersonal skills, qualities and abilities to work cooperatively with others.

Primary Responsibilities: 
Ÿ    Develop a lecture plan for trainees including Diplomatic candidates and Consular officers.
Ÿ    Develop relevant course curriculum and teaching materials
Ÿ    Assess and evaluate trainees.
Ÿ    Provide feedback to improve English programs
Ÿ    Participate in the planning and evaluation of various English language programs
Ÿ    Performing other responsibilities in coordination with the Office of Education and Training of the KNDA.

Employment Period: 
Indefinite contract (after a 3-month probationary period)

Starting date
Around the third week of November, 2023 (subject to change)

Salary: 
3,800,000 KRW per month (commensurate with educational background and relevant work experience) 

Working Hours: 
Ÿ    Eight hours (09:00~18:00) per day with a one hour lunch break from Monday through Friday (includes class teaching time, curriculum development, class preparation, and meetings as needed) 
*Current foreign instructors at the KNDA work 6 hours per day, while a newly hired instructor will be required to work 8 hours per day.
Paid Vacation: 15 days a year (It will be increased by working period)

The target audience are government officials and diplomat candidates with high intermediate to advanced English level.

Ÿ    Copy of Teaching License/ certificates (TESOL/TEFL/CELTA etc.)    Must be submitted

Required Documents for Successful Applicant (Individual notification will be given) 
Ÿ    1 Original Official Medical Report
Ÿ    1 Criminal (investigation) Record within 6months issuance (Korean translated and apostilled)
-    Overseas hire, candidates summit Criminal Record Check from their home country. 
Ÿ    1 Copy of passport / a file of photo sized for passport.
Ÿ    1 Copy of the Alien Registration Card (ARC) (if you are in Korea)
Ÿ    1 Personal Questionnaire form for background check provided by the National Police
 

Document Submission : Wednesday, October 4th , 2023, at 09:00(Korean standard time). 

Second Stage :Korea National Diplomatic Academy 3rd week of October, 2023 (subject to change) 
* Only those who pass the first stage of document screening will be personally notified of interview and test arrangements before October 12th, 2023
**Writing tests, Teaching demonstration and Interview are included.

Others :
Ÿ    If the candidate provides any false information or fails to submit required documents, the KNDA has the right to withdraw the employment offer.

Ÿ    Even after the notification of a successful applicant, the employment offer may be canceled in case a background check or official medical check reveals a reason for disqualification. 
Ÿ    If the final successful candidate renounces the appointment or the employment is canceled due to disqualifications, the first runner-up may be determined as a final successful candidate within one month after the announcement of the successful candidate.

Ÿ    If there is no eligible candidate who meets our job qualifications, the KNDA may decide not to choose from the candidates.
