We are currently recruiting for our 2 Jeju winter camps taking place in 2024 and invite you to apply! (Applicants who can commit to teaching at both camps will receive priority in the hiring process.)
SMIS is a camp company that was first established in Malaysia in 2010 and has been operating camps in Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore for more than 10 years.
Dates
Camp 1: Friday, December 29, 2023 ~ Thursday, January 18, 2024 (check-in Thursday, 12/28)
Camp 2: Monday, January 29, 2024 ~ Sunday, February 18, 2024 (check in Sunday, 1/28)
*There is a 10-day break between the two camps. If you are teaching both camps, you can return to the mainland or stay on the island. You will be unable to stay at the dormitory in between camps.
Location
The camp will take place at Jeju Tourism University about a 20-25 minutes taxi ride from Jeju International Airport. All camp staff, native English teachers, and students will stay in the dormitories during the duration of the camp.
Role and Responsibilities
Classes (“Regular Day”): 5 days a week, 8 40-minutes classes a day (roughly 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM)
Field trips (“Exciting Day”): 1 day a week (total 3 hours) to accompany students to local tourist attractions and museum
Lesson Planning (3 hours): Simple lesson plans based on camp textbooks to be submitted before camp begins
Final Test (2 hours): Create a final test based on your class content
Student Evaluation Reports (total 4 hours): Individual student reports to be submitted by end of camp
Provided
Accommodation: 2 teachers per dormitory room (2 beds)
3 days off
Meal: All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) during camp (1 hour lunch break)
Salary: 2,400,000 won per camp
Reimbursements: Round trip taxi to and from airport up to 24,000 won, roundtrip flight cost up to 176,000 won (must submit receipt)
Entrance fees and transportation for “Exciting Days” (field trip days)
Minimum Qualifications
Current location: South Korea
E-2 or F-visa holder
Required Teacher’s Certificate (TESOL, TEFL, or TESL)
Native English speaker and a citizen of one of the following countries: USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland
Must have completed at least a 3-4 year Bachelor's Degree
No criminal record (no dismissals or expungements)
Good physical and mental health (can prove with medical records if needed)
Currently teaching at a recognized educational institution (elementary, middle, high school, university)
Preferred Qualifications: Humorous, creative, innovative, good classroom management skills, familiar with Korean culture, and treat students with care and respect
