Tree Yard International School, located in Koh Samui, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our team. We are committed to creating a warm and inclusive community where your contributions will make a significant impact daily.
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
We are looking for a compassionate and organized individual to support children with additional needs in our inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Monitoring & Inclusion Program and classroom teachers to provide personalized learning and care. Responsibilities include 1:1 student support, adapting curriculum delivery, and monitoring student progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with special needs.
- Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Adapt learning materials and activities to accommodate various learning styles.
- Support classroom teachers in delivering a differentiated curriculum.
- Create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor and document student progress and prepare weekly reports for parents and the inclusion team.
- Foster skills in emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction.
- Provide physical support as necessary.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to support reviews.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding and child protection policies.
Essential Requirements:
- 1–2 years of experience working with children with special educational needs.
- Strong understanding of neurodiversity, learning differences, and inclusive practices.
- Functional English communication skills.
- Physically capable of supporting children's movement and mobility needs.
- High level of punctuality, reliability, and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Formal training or certification in Special Educational Needs, Child Psychology, or Teaching Assistance.
- Knowledge of Montessori methods, Positive Behavior Support, or sensory integration.
- Experience working in an international or bilingual school environment.
